Living RoomWelcome to my home tour (Kim here!)  This house is very special to me – it is the first house we purchased as a married couple over four years ago and now we are raising our sweet little boy here too.  It is not the biggest house in the neighborhood or the most expensive, but we have created so many memories together updating the house and making it our home. (My amazing husband loathes home renovations and DIY projects but is the most supportive assistant, thank goodness! I do a lot of the work because I sincerely enjoy it as a creative outlet, but I would be lying if I told you that I didn’t rely on him for a second set of hands and helping me build things!) We have been updating rooms in this house since we moved into it the summer of 2013 so some of the pictures on our blog are old and some are new.  I’ve tried to include the most updated pictures here with links to ‘Before & After’ articles in case you are interested.  While I know these spaces are not 100% perfect, we are learning to appreciate the imperfections and be ok with just being ourselves, and enjoying our passion for interiors.

The day we closed on our 1st house!

We painted the Living Room Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter for a calming and neutral base.  We also added rock around the fireplace and around the kitchen nook. (The fireplace used to be tile.)

Dining RoomI painted the kitchen myself one weekend while Shawn was on a business trip! The cabinets were originally oak and the walls were painted a green color.  You can see the whole renovation here.

KitchenBelow is Colton’s baby room.  Luckily for me, he can’t (yet) tell me what kind of cartoons he wants on the walls so I picked the decor in the meantime! The crib was a splurge from Restoration Hardware (but was 30% off), and the changing table was a hand-me-down that my sister and husband chalk painted for me while I was pregnant.  We painted the walls Revere Pewter and changed out the light fixture (which I bought on Amazon).

Baby RoomPrior to our baby, I had renovated the main level bedroom to be my office.  When the baby came, that room was converted into a playroom and the guest bedroom upstairs became our office.  If you want to see the old office renovation you can view it here. Here is the picture of the new office upstairs…

And here is the picture of the was-office now playroom…

This is our guest bedroom in the basement where a lot of family and friends stay during their visits! What isn’t shown in the pictures (yet) is the TV wall and bathroom.  I still need to take pictures of that area so pictures will be coming soon.

Basement Guest RoomOn another weekend that Shawn was traveling for work, I re-did the main floor bath.  You can see the make over here. I painted the walls, painted the oak cabinets, changed the light fixture, replaced the faucet and hardware, and then when Shawn came home he helped me build the medicine cabinet.

Main bathThe master bedroom is one of the first rooms we painted when we moved in and it is the only room that I want to re-paint! Hopefully will post better pictures later but you can click here to see the full renovation.

Master Bedroom

One of my favorite picture frames that Shawn’s cousins made for us. They have a business called Beyond the Brick that does super creative and custom home decor items!

Master bedroom afterI also re-did the Jack & Jill bathrom that connects Colton’s room to the office.  I painted the walls, painted the oak cabinets, changed faucet, replaced light fixture and hardware. Click here to see the full renovation.

We have also painted the banister white from its original oak color. You can check out the post here.

Entry wayWe have some other spaces that we have renovated and need to take pictures of, and others that we still need to renovate!  Check back for progress pics!
